31-May-2002 4:20 PM - Analogous Indirect is a compilation, on cd and lp, released in 'o0: showcase for oddity, purely free-improvvisation, ampli-distortion, noise making, - there's Thurston Moore between these 15, - but he's one of those few playing calmly here, - folk instrumental, - i'd state it doesn't impress me enough to be remembered. I know, i'm blasphemous. Anyway, in this cd You find interesting stuff if You're into glitches sonorities, - You know, some people love to use scratched cd's for making sounds, or just buzzing a fm signal for hours. The opening track, Ando Kunihiro's, is even live performed. Flying Luttenbachers are very disquieting, nice ill-bient. Fukktron play pretty different from others, They have a song-form, with percussions, voices and guitar, - but all this in a perverse way of being. Lots of lovely chaos. - Jesus, Wiese and Sickness' tracks made bleeding my ears: friends, never hear a cd compilation of noise makers You don't know with headphones: industrial noise, - i'll never understand You. But, luckily, there's Automobile to close this cd, with a quiet ambient, - always not much reassuring, with violin, reverb, and noisy sounds. - A compilation for un-builders (hopefully this word does a sense for You). // Analogous Indirect è invece una compilation (su cd & lp, pubblicata nel 'o0), vetrina del bizzarro, dell'improvvisazione, ampli-distortion, noisemakers, c'è anche Thurston Moore tra i 15, - ma è uno dei pochi che si distingue invece x la quiete, chitarra folk. Beh, se non l'avessi letto non l'avrei mai riconosciuto. Forse addirittura insignificante. Ok, smetto di bestemmiare. - Per il resto, c'è roba interessante per chi ama le sonorità glitches, cioè fare di un cd graffiato uno strumento, di un brusio fm un'onda continua. Il pezzo che apre, quello di Ando Kunihiro è addirittura live. Flying Luttenbachers è quello che mi convince di +, davvero inquietante. Fukktron invece fanno un noise che ha una forma canzone, - chitarre scordate e sbiascicate su batteria, e tanto, tanto chaos insieme al cantato. Cristo, sulle tracce di Wiese e Sickness ci ho perso qlc anno di vita, e l'udito (mai ascoltare una compilation di rumoristi che non conosci con le cuffie): industrial noise cui non riuscirò mai a dare una ragione di vita. Per fortuna c'è Automobile a chiudere il cd con un ambient, calmo ma non troppo rassicurante, tra violino, riverbero e strani rumori. - Una compilation per decostruttori.

31-May-2002 3:44 PM - Penso sia il primo cd che ricevo di una solista (Ragazza) persa nei meandri dello stupro della chitarra+distorsione, cioè Yoko Sato, da Morioka, Japan, tipa attivissima anche in molte collaborazioni, a quanto leggo. Il cd, dal titolo bislacco Searching for My Recording Engineer presenta 4 improvvisazioni tra feedback e motosega x 35 minuti, x capirci, in stile hidden track à la Sonic Youth, - ovvero l'azione congenita di un rumorista del voler far baciare con la lingua chitarra e amplificatore. Qualcosa che piace molto al chitarrista, di meno al vicino di casa. Ma è la traccia 3 che riluccica, dove c'è anche la voce cantilenante di Lei, da brivido quando urla sguaiata, - rimembranze e ululati à la Lydia Lunch, con la chitarra spettrale suonata come un'arpa corrosa. Beh, sentitevi questo pezzo, e fateVi un'idea. Io sarei davvero curioso di sentire altre cose, magari con un gruppo, anche. // I guess this is the first time i received a cd of a Girl losing her-self in raping guitars. That is Yoko Sato, from Morioka, Japan, - involved in several other projects, as i read. - Anyway, this cd, - strange odd title Searching for My Recording Engineer, features four swirling violent improvisations, for about 35 minutes, between pure rough feedback and a chain saw, in style of some Sonic Youth's hidden tracks, - i mean, that congenital action of each inspired noise-maker to oblige/force his guitar to have a long french kiss with the ampli. Something guitarists really like, - while their neighbours don't. - It's the third track to draw my attention, where Yoko with Her singsong and acerbic howls (what a shivers!) recalls me of a young Lydia Lunch, - with a spectral guitar, played as a corroded harp. Well, that's good. Just listen this track, and make Your choice. - I'd be curious to know more about, especially with a Band.

31-May-2002 12:24 PM - Continuiamo a cavalcare l'onda Japponese, allora è tempo di Toru Yoneyama e Osamu Kato, in arte Luv Rokambo, sempre su Public Eyesore. Il primo cd ('o1) è una coraggiosa produzione di improvvisazione ambient, fatta di macchine da scrivere, giocattoli, stratocaster in delay looppata e battuta o su slide, feedback, voci maschili, percussioni minimali. Beh, c'è scritto che suonano anche il 'green-oroco-g', ma non ho la + pallida idea di cosa sia. Mi informerò. Magari l'intervisto x chiedergli cosa caAAAAaazzo vorrebbero fare. Insomma, follia, materia cerebrale in decomposizione. 6 tracce, 46 minuti ca. Nella mia limitata campionatura di paragoni, mi viene in mente il progetto parallelo di Kim Gordon con la ex dei DNA, Ikue Mori, - oppure pensatela come una colonna sonora di quei momenti in cui il protagonista cade in delirio in un deserto ed ha delle visioni sconnesse (senti Cosmic Elegy). L'altro cd, Maze (sempre 'o1), 9 tracce x 4o minuti, li presenta meglio come un duo di chitarre elettriche, - sempre mai veramente suonate. Provano anche a cantare, mmmm-eggiare. Ma al centro, le chitarre assuefatte al rumore. Senti The Waste Land. // Keep on riding the japanese wave, - then it's Toru Yoneyama & Osamu Kato's turn, aka Luv Rokambo, always on PE rec. Two cd's: the first is of jan 'o1, gorgeous production of free-form ambient, done of typewriters, toys, stratocaster under delay effects/loops, beaten or played with bottle neck, - then feedback, male vocals as lullaby, minimal percussion. Well, there's written They play a 'green-oroco-g' too, - but i don't have any idea what it is! Anyway, pure madness, or grey matter in decomposition. 6 tracks, about 46 minutes. To give you some coordinates, i'd cite Kim Gordon side project with ex DNA's drummer, Ikue Mori, - or else, imagine an ideal score for a movie, when the chief character finds him-self in a desert, delirious he loses consciousness, - his visions. Ok. Listen to Cosmic Elegy and You'll get it. - The latter cd, Maze (ago 'o1), 9 tracks for about 4o minutes, presents better these two as a exp_guitar duo, - never really played instruments. There's also some kind of sung, sort of whispering. But guitars addict to noise are at center. Listen to The Waste Land.

Erano già stati recensiti su koma#1, ma a parte un indirizzo postale, non c'erano altre info di questo (allora duo) japponese di puro noise&roll. E invece rieccoLi qui, in tre. Quando si dice Japanoise, ci si butta subito i soliti nomi: Boredoms, Guitar Wolf, TeenGenerate, - in ogni modo ora Loro sono in tre, di Osaka, registrazione del 'o1, il cd conta 13 pezzi (26 minuti) ed esce per la Public Eyesore. Dire della qualità di produzione che sia lo-fi è un complimento: - questo è mono-fi alle sue migliori possibilità, - però è una chicca per chi ama il punk (e alcune registrazioni altrettanto mono-fi) dei Pussy Galore + caustici ma senza blues, - dal vivo devono essere degli animali, - voce rabbiosa, distorsione, i pezzi sono freschi. Senti estratti di Airport Spout, o la pausa di German Rock Radio II. C'è un solo pezzo in hi-fi, D.A.F. quasi 8o's. Migliori episodi Electro Do Stop, Bongo Roll, Bat Tragic. - Cd a 11$, confezione in cartoncino. // UltraFuckers give a hope to all those Groups able to produce only the ever worst recordings. I'm talking about recordings quality, not about ideas. Ideas are really good. - Komakino already met Them on its #1 issue, but at that time we haven't any contact but a mailing address in Japan. Yeah, They're from Osaka, and i know You're ready to cite usual names Boredoms, Guitar Wolf, TeenGenerate. Anyway, this trio releases through Public Eyesore Their Beyond the Fuckness cd, 13 tracks for about 26minutes. I guess it's correct to say this is not lo-fi, this is mono-fi, at its best. It's a pearl if You loved early caustic Pussy Galore recordings (but forget Their Blues background), - furious male voices, heavy distortion/feedback, some psychedelic/ambient pauses. I guess They are animals when performing on stage. Listen to a sample from Airport Spout, or German Rock Radio II. There's only a track in hi-fi, that is D.A.F. sounding a bit 8o's. Best episodes, as regards me, Electro Do Stop, Bongo Roll, Bat Tragic. - Cd at 11$, get in touch. I know there are some people from Japan, visiting often komakino, - well, i'd be curious to know if They ever heard of UltraFuckers, or seen them performing.

30-May-2002 2:51 PM - I'm going to dedicate several paragraphies to an american label called Public Eyesore, whom sent me ten Artists' cd from Their catalogue, ranging from gorgeous free jazz and ambient improvisation to japanoise Music. - Let's start with Insignia, by Khoury*Shearer*Hall, passion and gift of three improvisers (from Michigan, i guess), pure free jazz, perfect and fresh tangle of percussions, violin and saxophone, - also seeing piano and flute on a couple of magic pieces. 9 impressive tracks for about 6o minutes, - recorded (encroyable performances!!) live, - fantastic empathy of these great Musicians, pure spontaneity meeting eccentricity, an im_possible try to give rhythmic to the chaos of each talented solo, secret understanding and interaction between these men, Their schizophrenia. Tears for Detroit opens with a slow cold nocturnal fog created by sax and violin, - 8 Mile Between Woodward and 75 sounds as a sax-masterpiece.. Cominciamo da Insignia, by Khoury*Shearer*Hall, passione e dono di 3 improvvisatori (dal Michigan, suppongo), puro free-jazz, perfetto e fresco ensemble di percussioni, violino e sassofono, - che vede anche la presenza di piano e flauto su un paio di magici pezzi. 9 impressionanti pièces per circa 6o minuti, - registrati (incredibili performance) dal vivo, - fantastica empatia di questi grandi Musicisti, pura spontaneità che incontra l'eccentrico, un im_possibile tentativo di dare ritmica al caos di ogni talento solista, - segreta intesa ed interazione di questi uomini e la Loro schizofrenia. Tears for Detroit apre con una lenta gelida nebbia notturna, creata da sax e violino, - 8 Mile Between Woodward and 75 suona come un capolavoro da sax.. 28-May-2002 7:46 PM - E vai, un Gruppo nostrano originale e di qualità. Ecco xchè è buono portare avanti una fanzine. I John Woo sciorinano 17 pezzi (dal minuto ai tre ognuno, x un tot di 32'1o'') raccolti in Woodoo (the Fog Surfer rec), - discretissimo noise garage con parentele talvolta noir_surf nelle massime accellerate, velocissime sound track x bmovies di alieni/monsters introdotti da curiosi campioni/estratti di film sci_fi, e blues explosion. Vocals maschili (x lo + in inglese, poi italiano) che calzano, difficile stare fermi durante l'ascolto, - da seduti le gambe zompettano cmq. Chitarra sparatissima e maltrattata, batteria percossa a razzo piena di rullate, basso ondeggiante e tastiera stile punk/wave, anzi, proprio garage. Per darVi una direzione, tra Pussy Galore e Cramps da laguna (ma senza Lux Interior). Bora Bora, Searching, L'Invasione, John Woo, Gonzo, Sick Head (la punta del cd credo, con un solo 1'1o). Suggerirei da non mancare in concerto, perchè c'è da divertirsi e pogarci se si ha un pò di buon senso. In questo caso penso si dica al proposito 'spaccano', ma il termine è inflazionato, - confermatemelo Voi (dovrebbero suonare al festival di Radio Sherwood quest'estate). That's what is a good thing running a fanzine. John Woo play 17 tracks (from one minute to three each one, for a tot of 32'1o''), collected in Woodoo (released by italian Fog Surfer rec), - fairly good garage_noise with noir_surf relationships when they speed up, - ultra fast sounds tracks for b-movies about aliens/monsters, introduced by curious sci_fi movies samples, and 'blues explosion'. Male vocals (prevalently in english, and then in italian too) fitting well music, - hard to keep still, - even if you're sitting, you have to move yr legs. Shot murdered guitars, razor-like percussions, a good bass line and a keyboard played in full punk/wave style, - or better, just garage. To help You with some coordinates, just think of something between Pussy Galore and lagoonal Cramps (but without Lux Interior). - Bora Bora, Searching, L'Invasione, John Woo, Gonzo, Sick Head (the best thing, according to the sincerely yrs). I guess Their live performances are pretty funny and kicking. Yeah, in cases like this, reviewers write 'they kickass', but i know these words are inflated.
