Great Pacific Garbage Patch
In Pacific Ocean between Hawaii and California there is an island from the plastic withdrawals on the area as Great Britain.
That's horrible, isn't it?
There was an article on the Independent last year talking about this new sea expanding: "Marcus Eriksen, a research director of the US-based Algalita Marine Research Foundation, which Mr Moore founded, said yesterday: "The original idea that people had was that it was an island of plastic garbage that you could almost walk on. It is not quite like that. It is almost like a plastic soup. It is endless for an area that is maybe twice the size as continental United States.""
See also the related article on wiki. And just in case You wish to see it via Google Earth, read this thread before.
If You still don't understand why You must recycle your own garbage too, well, - let's meet at the beach.
