Golden Age Comics is a great blog, featuring a rich archive of high quality scans of vintage and not only comics.
Recently they posted an articole about Tor Johnson, seen through Drew Friedman's works: if You ever watched Ed Wood's Plan 9 from Outer Space You would easily recognize him in the role of the police detective turned zombie: not exactly acting like Robert De Niro, - anyway, as i read, just thanks to these comics, he gained a cult following somewhere out there.
Born in 1903, dead in 1970, formerly a professional wrestler known as The Super Swedish Angel, mr. Johnson in his life has been also actor in about 30 movies (Pippi Longstocking included), whose career ended in the early 1960s. As i read on Find A Grave, - a mask and special effects company, Don Post Studios, immortalized the "gentle giant" by taking a life mask of the actor-wrestler, and also creating a best-selling commercial "monster mask" of Tor; - see the 1982 catalogue here.
