Qualche settimana fa stavo ascoltando in macchina questo cd dei 28 Degrees Taurus quando al semaforo un tipo mi ha detto: "Che roba è???!!! E' bellissima questa musica!!!".
Naturalmente in dieci secondi di rosso residuo non ho potuto dare molte
informazioni al caro automobilista, ma forse la band sarà lusingata da
tale attenzione (al) volante. La canzone in questione era Low Light...
che anche a parer mio, e quindi non solo per i gusti del suddetto
automobilista, può assurgere a simbolo dell'intero lavoro. Il terzetto
di Boston, nelle undici tracce di How Do You Like Your Love?,
mescola saggiamente suggestioni soniche ad atmosfere dreamy e
shoegazing. La chitarra di Jinsen Liu, che disegna mirabilmente tappeti
ora eterei ora più acidi e psichedelici, dà continui spunti all'interno
dei quali si inserisce la dialettica melodica con la bella voce di Karin Dacosta. Tra Slowdive e Sonic Youth, quindi, i 28 DT
cercano il loro equilibrio e riescono a dar voce alla propria volontà
di gettare un ponte tra emotività e abrasività. Niente di nuovo sotto
il sole, ma ben venga la sensibilità musicale (merce estremamente rara
ai giorni nostri).

(11tx CD, 51'42'' - self-released '07) - A couple of weeks ago i was in car, listening to this release by 28 Degrees Taurus, - then i was waiting for the traffic lights to turn green, and a guy, stopped next to me, asked me in a hurry "what's that? it's really beautiful this music!!!". Of course in just ten seconds left of red light i couldn't give enough info to my new motorist-friend, - but maybe the group would be glad to know anecdote. The above mentioned song was Low Light... and besides him, according to me too, this track might be meant as the symbol of Their entire work. Three piece band from Boston, along these eleven titles of How Do You Like Your Love? wisely mix sonic evocations and dreamy / shoegazing patterns. Jinsen Liu's guitar, admirably drawing ethereal waves able to turn more acid and psychedelic, gives several hooks to Karin Dacosta's beautiful voice that play with melodies. Somewhere between Slowdive and Sonic Youth, - then 28 DT look for Their own equilibrium and succeed in bridging the gap between emotionalism and being abrasive. I mean, nothing new under the sun, - but that doesn't change Their musical insight (something really rare, nowadays), - totally worthy.
