studio”.

04-Sep-2008 11:53 AM - Aucan - s/t (11 tx cd, 45',37'' - Africantape / Ruminance '08) - Self-titled debut release, from Brescia, northern Italy, - They highlight their warlike intentions, drawing oblique lines on a math-noise plan. Everybody knows that usually mathematics is not an opinion, but Aucan know how to shuffle the cards artfully at play: fast riffs, powerful breaks, percussive drumming and so on, - i mean, it's the typical attitude and rules of a music genre that here looks like revitalized along these eleven tracks. Excellent production, recorded by Giovanni Ferliga behind the console and Giulio Favero at mastering; - since the first listen i felt like i was in front of Trans Am's wildness and pathos of The Surveillance. Frankly, i could keep on citing an endless amount of other bands (although strictly in the post-math-rock galaxy), and it wouldn't sound like swearing in a church if i said that this release is anyway on a similar quality level with the other well known members of the nobility, like Don Caballero, Dianogah etc. Let's wait and see, - i long to see them performing live, away from any studio/production amenity.
