Piano for Airport, four piece Band from Rome and arounds, have got an exquisite taste for alternative pop tunes, emotional and somehow introspective.
Another sunday on Saturn is Their brilliant debut full-lenght record, self-produced so far as fully worthy a more official record label production: - the new tracks are able to go in and out from the writing path introduced by Their former Much more EP released last year [free download], - a sort of multicolour seesaw between Pinback, Radiohead's Kid A (Overturn the lap) and The Cure's bass lines (20 years-old killer revolver), with a particular unorthodox inclination for electronic/synth patterns, - icing on the cake.
There are some tracks totally pop-memorable: - S.O.S. (sink or swim), featuring the infectious lyrics/refrain 'i waste / i waste my time / i wasted  / my time / my time' - as well as Ghosts and pillows' harmonious and melancholic swell, and last but not least, Monkey theorem's one too, with a beautiful two voices play (two male singers alternate lead vocals from song to song) - able to build the right climax (- although, i have just one personal negative note on this: their english sounds too much italian-ish, - and that's a pity).
Plus, tracks like Y-el, Tired eyes, the interlude Just done, give dissonance and needed oxygen to the whole tracklist, and refresh the listener's curiosity for what's coming next. It is like the Band loves to experiment with traditional and modern instruments, - and that's probably what makes of Another sunday on Saturn a nuanced record: it finds its strenght through simplicity and its modern reading keys, - groovy, nicely textured, - a pleasant surprise for the italian alternative-pop music category, featuring the good cards to capture a wider audience outside.
