Latest Father Murphy's sanctity record, No Room for the Weak, is released in USA and Japan by Aagoo rec and in Europe by Boring
Machines rec, a new record painted black, pitch black, - sinisterly black, and religiously fascinating and wrong, that something wrong typical of Father
Murphy trio, but this time, Their biblical cut kinda shades new-wave, as I like to think of it.
The EP's title, No Room for the Weak, refers to a verse of Joy Division's Day of the Lords, - You know, sort of citing a passage of the Bible, - an I'm just running along the same lines.
Think Michael Gira and Death in June's 80s tribalism as poles, anyway, not as an influence, at all: Father Murphy's psychic isolationism is a vivid theater of strong climax You sense since the very first seconds, an addiction to differently holy disharmonies, sound conflicts, perfect oblique melodies of purification. - Aristotle said 'It is the human soul that is purged of its excessive passions' [> wiki]. That's Father Murphy's sound mess, a passions chatarsis.
Mixed by Marco Fasolo (Jennifer Gentle), Father Murphy's heresy new chapter spread its dogma in mesmerizing and tinny drones and drums, dark bomb-drop tuned guitars, toy keyboards, bells, reverb rooms like cellars (We now pray with two hands, we now pray with true anger), boy/girl vocals, chant-like, primordial ceremonial (You got worry).
The last track is a cover of There is a war, originally by Leonard Cohen, a version totally revisited, strangled in hypnosis and mysticism.
Warmly, deadly recommended.

L'ulitmo disco della santità dei Father Murphy, No Room for the Weak, esce negli USA e Giappone via Aagoo records e in Europa per esclusiva di Boring Machines rec, un nuovo disco pinto nero, nero pece, sinistramente nero, e religiosamente affascinante e sbagliato, quel qualcosa di sbagliato oramai tipico del trio Father Murphy, per quanto a questo turno, il Loro taglio biblico è new-wave cangiante, come mi piace pensare.
Il titolo dell'EP, No Room for the Weak, fa riferimento ad un verso di Day of the Lords, dei Joy Division, ed è un pò come citare un passo della Bibbia, tanto per fare cabaret e restare in tema.
Pensate a Michael Gira e al tribalismo anni 80 dei Death in June quali poli, ma non come riferimenti, anzi, affatto: l'isolazionismo psichico dei Father Murphy è un vivido teatro di forti climax che si avverte da subito, un'assuefazione a disarmonie diversamente sacre, conflitti sonori, melodie oblique e perfette per la catarsi. Aristotele disse 'è l'anima umana che è purgata delle sue eccessive passioni' [> wiki], - ed ecco cos'è la Messa sonora dei Father Murphy, una catarsi delle passioni.
Mixato da Marco Fasolo (Jennifer Gentle), l'ennesimo capitolo dell'eresia dei Father Murphy diffonde il suo dogma tramite drone e tamburi mesmerici e metallici, chitarre mono accordo dall'accordatura non ortodossa, tastiere giocattolo, campane, stanze di riverbero come celle (We now pray with two hands, we now pray with true anger), lui/lei alle voci, cerimoniali primordiali (You got worry).
L'ultima traccia è poi una cover di There is a War, in origine di Leonard Cohen: una versione totalmente rivista, strangolata in ipnosi e misticismo.
