Evagelia Maravelias (voce, keyboards, batteria) e Brian Wenckebach
In Let Down ci sono forti echi New Order

Elika - Trying Got Us Nowhere - Evagelia Maravelias (voice, keyboards, drums) and Brian Wenckebach (guitars, programming) from Brooklyn, New York City, are the exclusive core members of Elika. Since the first listen, it's clear they have more than an inspiration, with a particular taste for electronic pop and multi-layered ambient spelled by downtempo rhythms. There are more interesting ideas when they dedicate more attention to the song structure, like with Nowhere, noteworthy ballad and crossroad between Lali Puna and Slowdive, whose its two parts are excellent. They'll hate us is a sweet and nocturnal lullaby opening with a docile and misty refrain. In Let Down there are strong echoes of New Order especially about the use of synths. As what is left, maybe there is too much will to rest on ordinary melodies. Sometimes, the chance You can count on crystalline as well faultless vocals like Maravelias' ones can turn everything into a trap that harnesses the songwriting, loosing breath. - A fairly good debut.. yet somehow in apnoea.
