To be released on September 23rd, 4 tracks of melodic decadence, synthetic buzzing, transcendental and cerebral at the same time, as far as the fragmented movements of repetition, sampling and looping can go: Nik Dawson, aka Bookworms, from NYC, delivers a tracklist of ecstatic minimal techno for Barcelona-based indie label Anòmia, where the straight beat of 500 Wounds is going to possess your body, wake you up and make you dance like in a voodoo party, joyfully restless. Personally, my favorite track. It grows on me.
Standards of Beauty is also enriched with the mind-explorer sonar of Divulge, going through a compelling oneirism, as well as the breathing in and out, slowly passing over the labyrinthitis of Patterned. Not less, the very same title track, is a vertigo made denser and denser, filled and fuelled with the bending and clinking of electronic experimentalism, a sort of mental escape into the darkest jungle of cyber tribalism.
A captivating EP indeed, alienating and insightful with its fluid progessions: enjoy your one way trip.
