Lounge pop delight, orchestral yet minimal, memories, sandals and cocktails at a pool party with The High Lamas and Remington Super 60, - She Sells Seashells is the personal brainchild of composer John Lane, from Baltimore, Maryland, USA, - helped out by His friends in USA and Europe with tuneful boy/girl vocals (duets and solo) and instruments, tracks guided by a recurring organ-leitmotiv spacing between sugar harmonies, xylophone, quiet percussions and loads of chill out and relax.
You can hear the sea waves in Fitness Suite, - where the summer Sun hits hard like a sedative while You're sipping a deserved mojito, - then next to You it might occur some light psychedelic swoon (Remember The Zoo), kaleidoscopic hallucinations / pink elephants, - a sound combination of lovable tempos and bittersweet lo-fi bossanova (The First / Last Umbrella), - hypnagogic auditory alteration, 'mastered and mixed in MONO', as the notes say.
This box of (inevitably pet) sounds is fully enjoyable, able of a remarkable Summer nostalgic emphasis; - to niptick and just pay attention on flaws, I note that the abstract role of a missing lead vocalist somehow might affect the memorable success of this beautiful record. Said that, now go on, let me go back to the party, this drink, I mean, the Music is exquisite.
